Road to Greatness
When you go through the biography of a Great person, your mind is blown up to know how he became so. And you go in deep and deep to see how how how? But first of all, I also want to clarify who is great. The greatness of a person is totally dependent. If you say Mahatma Gandhi is a great person for India, but in the view of the British what's the meaning of this Indian philosophy. That means no person can be great universally, you say. But there is a way to see how things work for being a person great universally. Is this enough? No, never; we will discuss all the facts.
Now you can ask if there is a way to be great ourselves? Yes, there is.
1. Forgiveness (Kshama)
Observe yourself. Can you forgive all the creatures who did or did not do in knowledge or innocently your life difficult, create abuses, seize your assets, say ills about you, and all of this hurt you too. If you can, you are great, no doubt.
2. Humility (Mardav)
You have lots of assets, you have a big family, have glamorous body, good health, good knowledge, well and reputed relatives and friends, good deeds, higher education, travel throughout the world, and so many things that make you proud are the obstacles to your greatness. So beware of pride. If you have no pride, you are great.
3. Straightforwardness (Arjav)
Do you do whatever you say? And do you say whatever you think or have in mind? You can say what is in your mind and can do what you have said. You dare to say what is running in your mind and do what is your word, which is the sign of your greatness. Your innocent behavior is your greatness.
4. Reality (Satya)
The fact is to know and accept the existence of things (matter/substance/living/nonliving/creatures) in their own circumstance and current state of survival. This is really hard to say the facts. If you can, you are really GREAT.
5. Self-restraint (Samyam)
We want to watch glamorous, listen to good, taste delicious, smell nice fragrances, and feel soft and hot touch. We all have desires for our tools. So we do what the whole world does. There is nothing new. But if you made yourself to do not require is the thing you do extraordinary. So is greatness.
6. Greediness (Nirlobh)
Shauch emphasizes purity and contentment by minimizing greed, which is defined as the persistent desire to have more material possessions and living things, leading to unhappiness. A greedy person is never satisfied with what they have and may resort to any means to gain more, disregarding others. Eliminating greed is essential for achieving purity of heart and progressing on the path to liberation. If anyone is not greedy, be GREAT.
7. Austerity (Tap)
This principle emphasizes the importance of self-discipline and control over desires as a means to purify the soul and achieve liberation. Needs a soul to be present in the service of humanity to be GREAT.
8. Renunciation ( Tyag)
Relinquishing material wealth and luxuries, focusing on simplicity and minimalism in lifestyle choices. Beyond physical possessions, this aspect emphasizes letting go of negative emotions such as greed, anger, and attachment, fostering a mindset of detachment from worldly concerns. True renunciation is often associated with charitable acts. Giving selflessly—without expecting anything in return—is considered a form of renunciation that enriches both the giver and the receiver. That makes you GREAT.
9. Non-possessiveness (Aparigraha)
Non-attachment or non-possession. It reflects the understanding that, beyond the soul, nothing in this world truly belongs to an individual. The essence of this virtue is to cultivate the belief that external possessions do not define one's identity or happiness. to liberate individuals from the burdens of materialism and emotional attachments. By practicing non-possessiveness, one can reduce desires, leading to spiritual purification and ultimately achieving GREATNESS.
10. Celibacy (Brahmacharya)
Brahmacharya signifies living under the true nature of the soul by abstaining from sexual activities and desires. It encompasses purity in thought, speech, and action regarding sexuality. To facilitate spiritual growth and self-realization. By renouncing sensual pleasures, individuals can focus on their inner selves and cultivate a deeper connection with their spiritual essence. This practice is believed to lead to clarity of thought and action, ultimately guiding practitioners toward GREATNESS.
THE WAY TO GREATNESS
Individuals can attain a profound understanding of their true selves while contributing positively to their spiritual community through disciplined living and ethical conduct. It lets the individual be GREAT.
